KNOWN as the beer drinking ambassador, artiste, Vinchenzo has clapped back at parents and those deemed to be holier than thou who criticise the alcohol content in his songs.
Vinchezo, real name, Vincent Daka stated that his music, is about highlighting problems in society instead of offering solutions.
Appearing on In Your Face Show, the Beer presido explained that his songs only reflect realities which most people may not want to hear about because they realise that it’s the bitter truth they are living.
The artiste is known for his unique narration of stories that involve the partaking of alcohol and problems.
He said, singing about alcohol was the path he chose as he found out that most people are actually living that reality.
His alcohol songs have since sparked some negative connotations among the older generation who think that the artiste is destroying Gen Zs.
In his response to the old folks, Vinchezo stated that he will continue singing about the realities of life and advised the parents to follow gospel artistes like Pompi, Magg 44 and others if they are to find solutions in songs.
“I don’t give solutions. I’m not a pastor in my songs, tinasiyilako bena Pompi, Magg 44, Abel Chungu, Esther Chungu. Otherwise, I’m just a musician who highlights problems. I like speaking the truth, I don’t filter information, I sing about alcohol because I used to do a lot of observations for everybody that takes alcohol,” shared Vinchezo.
“And the parents complaining understand and they know that what I say in my songs is the truth, that’s why they are hurting. It’s not my business to actually nurture every kid out there… I have told you, my job is just to highlight truth.”
When asked if it ever bothered him that he had never won a single award despite having had hit songs here and there, the artiste stated that awards are not his priority for him to fuss about.
“Being awarded has never been my priority, it has always been to elevate myself musically. As long as I’m making money and managing then I’m okay. Vama award ivo, it’s just an extra, whether it comes or not I won’t stop being Vinchezo,” said the artiste.
