The Lwiindi Chuundu traditional ceremony of the Leya people of Southern province which the President attended yesterday wrapped up his 2024 schedule of attending ceremonies.

President Hichilema’s last engagement with the chiefs yesterday attracted 63 traditional leaders from across the country which elated him as it happened to be the highest number of chiefs present at a traditional ceremony.

The Head of State called for unity and calm among traditional leaders citing the fact that they have now known each other through traditional ceremonies.

He said the chiefs now have to exalt the unity among themselves to their subjects in order to unite the whole country.

“Now that the chiefs have come to know each other from one corner, South, North, East, West, Central, they have come to know each other, they must use this knowledge of each other first to respect each other, secondly to appreciate each other, three, to exalt this unity to their subjects across the country,” he said.

President Hichilema stated that when the country is united, development is easy to attain.

“On the platform of unity, peace and security, we shall deliver development across the country. We will also invaluably and consequentially work as partners in unity and as partners in development,” said the Head of State.

Meanwhile, Chiefs and other stakeholders commended the Head of State for having visited all the 10 provinces for ceremonies regardless of tribe or location.

Chief Nalubamba of Namwala district in Southern province wished the President enough rest as he prepares for next year’s events.

And 2024 Lwiindi chairperson Evans Fenete stated that President Hichilema’s visits to almost all the ceremonies across the country showcases the excellent leadership skills and qualities of the President.

“This shows the kind of leadership skills that you possess. I ask and request for a clap for such an excellent thing the president has done. We thank you for respecting traditional leaders. We thank you for not allowing traditional leaders to go to court over succession wrangles, it was embarrassing for us to be in court day in, day out. We thank you for putting this to an end,” thanked Fenete.
