POPE Francis has told Catholics around the globe to pray silently through their heart instead of shouting like “parrots” when praying.
In a recent address to residents of the Vatican City, the Pope stated that shouting or making noise when praying is not necessary as God is a father who understands prayers offered even through the heart.
He stated that shouting during prayer does not mean one is genuinely engaging with God and inviting the Holy Spirit to guide their prayers but could sometimes mean that the person is showing off.
The Pontiff said most of those who shout merely express repetitive sentences instead of sincerely expressing their faith.
“Don’t pray like parrots please, don’t say blah, blah, blah, blah, no. Say Lord but say it with your heart. Help me Lord. I love you Lord,” preached the Catholic leader.
“When you pray the Our Father, pray father, you are my father, pray with your heart not with your lips, don’t act like parrots.”
Not long ago, Pope Francis also told Catholic priests to keep their homilies by ensuring that they do not surpass eight minutes in an effort to prevent people from falling asleep or losing focus.
