This is in a matter he is facing two counts of possessing properties suspected of being proceeds of crime.

The court set August 22, 2025 as a date it shall render Judgement in the case.

This was after Lusambo through his lawyers, informed Lusaka chief resident magistrate Davies Chibwili that they had closed their defence.

Last year on November 8, the EFCC; subordinate court jailed Lusambo for four years with hard labour in a matter he pleaded not guilty to ten counts of corrupt acquisition of public property, possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime, tax evasion and conspiracy to defraud.

He was jointly charged with his wife Nancy Manase Lusambo who was acquitted after the court found her not guilty.

And when the matter came up for continued defence yesterday, the defence lawyers informed the court their intentions to close the case after a witness they subpoenaed failed to show up.

The defence submitted that they had summoned Minister of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati whom they wanted to testify for Lusambo but he declined hence closing the case.

Lusambo pleaded not guilty to the two counts he was charged with.
