WHILE other couples reconcile due to various reasons such as children, a 60-year-old married man Mungule in the outskirts of Lusaka had to bring back his former wife because he could not settle the loan he owed her.

Boyd Siame was sued by his wife in the Matero Local court last month for the case of marriage reconciliation on grounds that he had gone back to his former wife.

The couple has been married since 2007.

His wife, Magadalene Mulenga, 56 complained that Siame suddenly changed and chased her from their matrimonial home because he wanted to bring back his former lover after their 17 years of separation.

She said after chasing her, he even stopped eating her food, no matter the amount of Onga she added.

“He chased me saying he wanted to bring in his former wife. When I asked him why, he told me that it was because he owed her money that he couldn’t pay. So together, they sold our plot belonging to my husband and I, and they spent the money the two of them,” complained Mulenga.

During his time to air out his view, Siame told the court that his marriage with Mulenga was not a love one but rather arranged, and that on top of that, he is not her first husband.

He went to say that, despite the above reasons, he still did not neglect Mulenga after bringing back his former wife.

“Even if she is complaining, I gave her and her fellow wife one week each to spend with me. But for her, she sleeps with cloths saying that I insult her. Here where you see us, we haven’t enjoyed each other for two months. She disrespects me,” said Siame.

But when asked if both parties wanted to reconcile with one another, their response was both a firm yes.

“Do not go back to your former wife. It is not good to go back to your past,” Magistrate Lewis Mumba advised Siame.

Magistrate Mumba then reconciled the couple and advised the two parties to live in harmony.
