THE Matero Local Court locked a 45- year old man of Chipata overspill for using vulgar language on his wife and children.
Ammon Ngoma was sued for divorce by his wife, Yakobed Banda, but when the court heard how vulger his insults were, it decided to adjourn the case to the following day to allow Ngoma to learn a lesson in the holding cells.
Banda said since the couple got married in 1996, and Ngoma paid an undisclosed number of cows as bride price, she said the two have been on separation for seven years.
Banda narrated that while they lived together, Ngoma was very arrogant and sarcastic.
“Whenever we argued and I reported him to our marriage negotiator, (bashibukombe), Ngoma ended up beating our marriage negotiator when he tried to council him. At one point, he left me in Chipata and came here in Lusaka. When I followed him, he told me that he found a woman who had brown legs and that he despised my black legs.
At one point, he pointed at his manhood and told my daughter that it is the one which entered my private parts and the act resulted in her birth. My daughter was shocked and disappointed. He also referred to me and my daughters as prostitutes,” Banda said.
She said on a particular day, Ngoma followed her to where she had shifted with her daughters and upon arrival, he told her landlord that he was not there to sleep with Banda but to see his daughters.
Margaret Harriet Mulenga asked Ngoma why he insulted in front of his children and he responded that it was the alcohol he drank that sponsored the explicit insults.
“This is being stupid, I will lock you up so that you learn a lesson. You cant be behaving like that in front of your children. The case will continue tomorrow,” Magistrate Mulenga said.
