DESPITE being at the receiving end of a thorough thumping at the hands of fellow PF cadres last Saturday, Innocent Kalimanshi appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates Court this morning charged with assault and criminal trespass with intent to annoy.
The visibly swollen self-styled PF National commander sang songs of praise for President Edgar Lungu saying he remained a committed sympathyser of the Head of State.
Lusaka Magistrate Felix Kaoma released him Kalimanshi on a K10,000 bail.
Marking the end of his 7-day stay in police custody for the alleged offence of Trespassing into the PF Secretariat with Intent to Annoy, the boisterous Kalimanshi was today presented before court where he successfuly obtained bail and had his trial set for June 22, 2021.
However, Kalimanshi’s jubilation was short lived as he was shepherded to Kamwala Remand Prison instead of Chawama Compound by Police where he will wait until he fulfils bail conditions.
In juxtaposition, five other cadres accused of beating Kalimanshi and ransacking his Ford Ranger Motor Vehicle valued K700,000 also appeared before Magistrate Faidess Hamaundu for the offence of Malicious Damage to Property.
The five were also granted K5000 bail and a working surety each.
The release of the two camps by the courts is likely to set a date for another possible punch-up should the factions meet.
Besides commandeering a gang that has the ability to inflict maximum physical pain along with body deforming injuries on its victims, Kalimanshi’s gang also boasts of having skilled composers of vulgar terminologies which they deliver with astonishing eloquence and proficiency.
