Court jails Chipata youth for assulting man who stoned his dog

THE CHIPATA Magistrates Court has jailed a 20-year-old man who assaulted another man who stoned his dog.

Gama Chikondi of Mwami Boarder area in Chipata will spend 14 months in prison while performing hard labour for the crime.

Chikondi readily admitted the charge as he appeared before Magistrate Betty Mwiinga for one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Particulars of the offence were that on November 14, 2020 in Chipata, Chikondi
assaulted Nyuma Njobvu, thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

It was alleged that Njobvu hit Chikondi’s dog with a stone and this angered Chikondi who resorted to revenge for his dog by punching and slappingNjobvu.

Magistrate Mwinga said in his own admission of guilty, she was sentencing Chikondi to 14 months imprisonment with hard labour effective from the date of arrest, according to Breeze FM.
