A 12-year-old girl bravely recounted in a courtroom how a 60 year old pastor, Wyclif Kamando, repeatedly begged her for sex, even pleading with her not to leave him “hungry and unsatisfied” after she escaped his grasp.

Her testimony was central to the conviction of Kamando, who was found guilty of defilement.
The girl, identified as D.H., told resident magistrate Chrispin Hampungani that Kamando, a pastor with Grace Ministries, tried to force himself on her in his makeshift shop.
She vividly described the moment she managed to flee, leaving her undergarment behind in her desperate escape.
According to court records, this was not an isolated incident.
The court heard that Kamando had previously had sexual intercourse with the girl on two occasions, once in a maize field and another time inside his shop.
The third incident, which led to her escape, saw Kamando slightly enter before she managed to break free.
“On [the] material day the victim went to buy freezits at his shop, she sat on the chair and the accused wanted to have sex with her, he did not penetrate so much as she ran away leaving her pant behind in the shop with the accused.”
“The accused went outside and stood by the door and started pleading with her to go back as she had left him hungry and unsatisfied,” the court read.
The girl’s testimony highlighted her regular interactions with Kamando and his wife, as she frequently sold freezits for them and also bought items from their shop.
This familiarity, the court found, was exploited by Kamando.
Magistrate Hampungani, in his ruling, acknowledged the compelling evidence presented by state witnesses, including the victim’s account, which confirmed Kamando’s sexual acts with the girl.
He condemned Kamando for abusing his position as a pastor and for destroying the girl’s future instead of protecting her.
“You have spoiled the name of other genuine pastors with your acts,” the magistrate stated.
Kamando, who had pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement, was convicted, and his case has been sent to the High Court for sentencing.
“I find you guilty with the charge of defilement and convict you accordingly. But since the offence has a minimum sentence of 15 years, I send you to the High Court for sentencing,” magistrate Hampungani ruled.
