LUSAKA Magistrate Nsunge Chanda has committed four murder-accused pupils to the Lusaka High Court for trial.
The four pupils of Lusaka’s Twin Palm School aged between
16 and 19 are accused of killing their 17-year-old Grade 12 counterpart, Ryan Phiri from neighboring Kabulonga Boys Secondary School.
They are facing one count of murder contrary to section 200 of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that on December 4, 2020 in Lusaka, the quartet jointly and whilst acting together did murder Ryan Phiri.
Facts in the matter are that Phiri was attacked by a group of people believed to be grade 12 pupils from Twin Palm Secondary School using golf sticks, near Malata area.
When the matter came up before Magistrate Nsunge Chanda yesterday, she told the accused that the court had no jurisdiction to hear the case because they were charged with a capital offence.
