PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has told renowned American media personality Steve Harvey that Zambia is available for creative and film opportunities.
Speaking when Harvey called on him at State House today, President Hichilema stated that the Zambian film and television industry could learn a lot from the American star.
The President commended the celebrity for bringing the American talent home which could possibly benefit the Zambian youth.
“Bringing Family Feud to Africa was something that you said was an issue, others believed it was not workable but you made a way. We like that entrepreneurship, that courage, that vision. Zambia is available, Zambia is ready to be part of this dream, this opportunity,” said President Hichilema.
And the TV star assured the President of his support to the Zambian creative field.
Harvey shared with President Hichilema that he had discovered Zambia and Africa at large to be the hub of business opportunities for young people.
“As I came here, I have discovered how many young people you have, I said we gotta create opportunities for these young people,” said Harvey.
“I have a strong desire to bridge the gap between American, African Americans and the UAE and Africa. We have been in Africa for a couple of days now, I have been on this continent for over 18 years now doing things. I have spoken with a lot of people in my life. I have been in television for 30 years and in business for 40 years. What we are never told as African Americans, as Africans is the business side. We have so many talented people in Africa that’s what I have seen.”
Speaking at the same meeting, Tourism Minister Rodney Sikumba stated that the American star’s visit to the country will also help promote the country’s tourism sector.
