THE Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) has taken disciplinary action against Multiplex Contractors and Supplies Limited, suspending the company from participating in public procurement for one year.
The suspension, effective from October 3, 2024, stems from an investigation into the company’s submission of a fraudulent National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) Compliance Certificate.
According to a statement issued by the authority, the incident occurred during a tender process for renovation and external paint works at Mosi-oa-Tunya House in Livingstone.
ZPPA’s investigation revealed that Multiplex Contractors had submitted a NAPSA Compliance Certificate with an incorrect expiry date.
This constituted a breach of procurement regulations, as outlined in the Public Procurement Act No. 8 of 2020.
ZPPA’s assistant public relations officer, Lucy Lumbe, confirmed the suspension and cautioned procuring entities against engaging with the company during the suspension period.
“ZPPA wishes to state that the suspension does not in any way limit Multiplex Contractors
and Supplies Limited from performing outstanding contracts that were entered into
before 3rd October, 2024,” shared Lumbe.
