HAD he listened to pessimists who discouraged him from participating in the
Coca-Cola Beverages Zambia (CCBZ)’s Wina Na Kapendelo Ka Coke promotion, Lutangu Musipili would not have won a whole K20, 000.

While pessimists saw the promotion as one that would favour capital city residents only, Musipili emerged as an optimist by lending a deaf ear to what doubting Thomases could ever say.

Last month, CCBZ unleashed the Wina Na Kapendelo Ka Coke with K2.5 million up for grabs.

The company announced that the next three months, September to November would be months to remember as Coca-Cola would create more memories not just with the taste in customers mouths but also burdening people’s pockets with some cool cash.

All customers throughout the country have to do is purchase Coca-Cola, Fanta, or Sprite in 300ml returnable glass bottles and look for a unique code under the yellow metal crown, dial 38424# and follow the prompts with no charge.

Yesterday, the Coke, Fanta and Sprite company fulfilled its promise by awarding the first and second draw winners (10 people) with some cool cash ranging from K5000 to K25,000.

Musipili from Mongu who was once discouraged from participating by his friends and family was among the lucky winners who walked away with a K20,000.

He expressed gratitude to the beverage company for having set up such a unique promotion.

“I came all the way from Mongu to get money from Coca Cola. People from Mongu told me that only Lusaka people could win. In Western province in Mongu, they believe that such promotions are only won by Lusaka residents. But the marketing officers for Coca Cola convinced me,” he shared with Kalemba.

“This is genuine, there’s nothing like corruption, this is genuine magic.”

As a Mongu businessman, Musipili stated that the K20, 000 would help boost his business which has been limping for some time now.

“This will help me boost my business, I haven’t spent anything on this. No data, no money as if you are entering talk time. I was even told that ‘don’t enter they already know the winners’ but I didn’t stop. I’m very excited,” said Musipili.

And Angela Mukuni who came all the way from Mumbwa told Kalemba part of her victorious journey.

“I was once given a fridge by Coca Cola because I sell their products in my shop. Then my child who’s in grade 10, my son, was the one entering. I was even at a funeral when they called me that I had won K25,000. I then saw it on their page because I thought it was a scam. Radio 2 and lcengelo also gave me an interview on the same, all the way from Mumbwa,” shared Mukuni.

Others who won include, William Phiri, Prince Banda and Chinyemba Musumali and Abigail Chembo with K5,000s respectively.

Osward Sintolongo and Esther Ziwa won a whopping K10,000 each.

Alice Uwela, Gerald Miyongabo, Eric Phiri and Fred Ndegeya won K15,000, K20,000 and K25,000 respectively.
