OLYMPIC bronze medalist Muzala Samukonga has announced today that he will be unable to accept the pledges and offers of support that were made to him following his recent achievement at the olympics.
In a statement released on his Facebook page, Samukonga expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received from the Zambian people, but cited personal reasons and circumstances beyond his control as factors for him in making the decision.
Samukonga did not provide further details about the personal reasons behind his decision, but assured to remain committed in representing Zambia at the highest level.
The athlete appreciated the companies, entities and organisations that wanted to honour him.
“I deeply value your support and look forward to your continued encouragement in future endeavors and hope and pray that in the near future I’ll be able to receive them but as at for now it is not my intention not to get the pledges but circumstances beyond my control,” he shared.
“As we look ahead to the coming season, I hope that I can once again count on the incredible support of the Zambian people. Together, we can achieve great things and make our country proud.”
