THE nation is gearing up to give a hero’s welcome to Muzala Samukonga, the Zambian sprinter who has etched his name in the country’s sporting history after a triumphant European tour, culminating in a historic bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, and third lace finish at the Diamond leagues recently.
Samukonga is set to return home to a jubilant reception at 14:30 hours.
The Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Arts announced a grand parade to honour the Olympic medalist from the moment his plane touches down at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport with a sea of cheering fans expected to line up in the streets, creating a festive atmosphere.
The procession, which will also include all the Zambian athletes who participated in the Paris Games making its way to the National Sport Development Centre.
