LUSAKA Dynamos Football Club manger and chief executive officer (CEO) Joseph Zenga says the late Hanif Adams deserved to be president of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) before he died in order to benefit from his expertise.
He said his death has not only left a gap in the club were he served as president but also in the Zambian football fraternity at large.
Zenga said his dedication and sacrifice to football was so immense that even three to four days prior to his death, he called him to his house to discuss on how best the club could be helped while advising him on how to manage it, so it can win its first games.
“That was how much he loved the club and football not even his sickness could stop him from thinking about how best he could improve the club. It just hurts me that he died before he could serve as FAZ president because the nation deserved to benefit from his experience, love, passion and dedication to football,” said Zenga.
He said this yesterday when the team visited the Adams’ mourning family in Lusaka’s Kalundu area.
And Lusaka Dynamos head coach, Charles Mwale remembered Adams as a selfless man who helped many big names in the Zambian field.
He added that despite Adam’s death being a big blow to the club, they will still work had to ensure his vision is carried on by returning to the Zambian Premier League.
He said as coaches, they will ensure to play their part with the help of the technical team, while they push the players to overcome themselves and win their first games.
“We are grateful that Mr Adams’ family has committed to continuing to support the club as he was our main sponsor, meanwhile, we will also do our best to ensure that we perform better,” the coach said.
Meanwhile, Lusaka Dynamos striker Litiya Mwila said the team will remember the team’s former president as a leader who welcomed every player and offered each of them the same opportunity to play as he believed in their talents more than anyone else.
“We will greatly miss him. His death came as a shock to the team. He never had favourites as he always took us in the same way and gave us the same opportunities. He would encourage us to do better and told us his dream was to see us play in Europe one day. We will greatly miss him as he laughed with all of us,” said Mwila.
