THE Zambian volleyball community is bidding farewell to Agness Banda who succumbed to an illness on Monday.
Banda has been described as a passionate and dedicated player who inspired excellence and determination in the sport she cherished.
“Her unwavering dedication, skill and sportsmanship made her a role model for aspiring volleyball players and a cherished teammate,” the Zambia Amateur Volleyball Federation stated.
And close family and friends expressed deep sadness over the demise of the “gallant setter” as she was widely known.
“Too bad Agness. My condolences. I remember traveling with you to Muzuzu (Malawi) and Maseru (Lesotho) with Prison Leopards Volleyball. The motherly advice and care you gave our young girls was so amazing. Journey well,” expressed Godfrey Mbewe.
Banda was a key player for several pretigious teams including the Flight Spikers, the Prison Leopards and most recently the Falcons Vollyball Club.
The player is set to be laid to rest tomorrow June 13, 2024.
