A DELEGATION of 10 provincial coaches from Zambia is set to depart for Anaheim, California, US, this afternoon to participate in the prestigious 2024 United Soccer Coaches Convention from January 10-14.
The invitation, a result of a collaborative effort between the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts, and the US Government, signifies a significant step in promoting football nationwide.
Led by FAZ Technical Director Lyson Zulu and Women Football Development Officer Annie Namukanga, the coaches will engage in the US Sports Visitors Program, immersing themselves in the world’s largest soccer convention.
Notable coaches among the delegation include Anthony Kapembwa, Chester Sanka, and Harriet Banda.
Speaking at the send-off, FAZ President Andrew Kamanga emphasised the importance of decentralising football initiatives across provinces, particularly in nurturing the talents of young female athletes.
Kamanga lauded the involvement of the US Government in fostering the initiative through the Sports Visitor Programme, viewing it as a testament to their commitment to global sports development.
Addressing the provincial coaches, Kamanga commended their dedication and stressed the significance of their role in inspiring and nurturing young talents.
He urged them to seize the opportunity to elevate girls’ football to unprecedented heights, emphasizing the essence of true leadership and mentorship in the realm of sports development.
