ZAMBIA’s football scene witnessed a double triumph as FC MUZA and Power Dynamos showcased their prowess in the CAF Champions League to progress to the next round of the competition.

In an exhilarating display yesterday, FC MUZA outshone their opponents, Equatorial Guinea side, Cano Sport, with a resounding 3-0 victory in the second leg preliminary round, securing a 4-1 aggregate win.

Kondwani Mhango fired up the contest with an early goal in the 17th minute, setting the tone for MUZA’s dominance. Andrew Phiri’s penalty kick extended their lead, while Bob Angwenga’s strike in the 62nd minute sealed the deal.

Notably, this success garnered attention from the highest echelons, as President Hakainde Hichilema spotlighted MUZA on his social media.

The team’s fairytale run continues as they advance to face Diables Noir of Congo Brazzaville in the next round, propelled by their remarkable performance.

FC MUZA will be at home for the first leg on the weekend of 15-17 September before travelling to Brazzaville for the second leg on the weekend of 29 September – 1 October.

Meanwhile, Power Dynamos showcased their mettle in a nerve-wracking battle against Namibia’s African Stars on Saturday.

After succumbing to a 2-1 defeat in the initial leg, Power Dynamos rallied and displayed their grit on home turf.

The pivotal moment came when Andy Boyeli converted a penalty, propelling them into a 1-0 lead. Despite the aggregate score being level at 2-all, the away goal rule propelled Power Dynamos to the next stage.

Their redemption from last week’s setback culminated in securing a date with Tanzanian giants Simba SC.

The Zambian champions will host second round opponents Simba Sports Club on the weekend of 15-17 September with an away second leg fixture happening after 12 days.

Overall winners of the two-legged tie will qualify to the group stages of the continental competition.

With both teams scripting their tales of triumph, Zambian football enthusiasts eagerly anticipate their continued journey on the continental stage.
