ZAMBIAN Commonwealth Games gold medalist, sprinter, Muzala Samukonga, has received financial assistance from the government for his treatments after suffering an injury during his last meet.
The 20-year-old fastest 400M sprinter had to withdraw from the race at the Diamond League in Silesia, Poland, last month due to a hamstring injury, which raised concerns about his participation in the upcoming World Championship scheduled this month.
The injury had left many of Muzala’s supporters worried about his recovery, but yesterday, the Ministry of Sports sent money to cover his treatment expenses.
And Muzala confirmed the receipt of the funds through his Facebook page and expressed his determination to start the treatment process promptly.
“While we are unsure of the duration of the treatment, I hope to be treated as quickly as possible, with prayers and hopes of getting better and back on track for training before the World Championships later this month,” said Muzala.
He emphasized that representing Zambia and raising the national flag high at the World Championship has always been his dream, and he will not let that dream be thwarted.
