LEADER of the Socialist Party Fred M’membe has lodged a complaint against inspector general of police Graphel Musamba for libel in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court.
Dr M’membe wants the top cop to be prosecuted for alleging that he was hell bent on causing anarchy in the country during a press briefing he held on August 8, 2023.
The veteran journalist-cum-politician contended that Musamba’s utterances imply that he is instigating rebellion, anarchy and bringing coup to his peace loving country.
“By virtue of Mr Musamba’s position in our police service, even if I lodged a complaint at a policy station, the same cannot be objectively acted upon since all our officers are reporting to him,” said Dr M’membe.
