CITIZENS First (CF) president Harry Kalaba says results of the just-ended three ward by-elections in Central, Copperbelt and Northern Provinces have shown that the CF is the party of choice for Zambians.
The governing UPND won all the three ward by-elections which were held yesterday in Muchinda ward (Serenje), Chitimukulu (Chililabombwe) and Katilye (Lupososhi).
Kalaba’s CF fielded candidates in Chitimukulu and Katilye wards.
In Chitimukulu, CF candidate, Lumbala Kawilila, emerged fourth with 11 votes.
In Katilye ward, CF’s Elvis Chali came in third position with 238 votes.
Commenting on the outcome, via Facebook, Kalaba said it is: “well done” for the Citizens First.
“The just ended by elections have clearly shown that we are the party of choice. In a space of six months of formation our performance is indicative of what lies ahead,” Kalaba, a former foreign affairs minister, said.
He noted that he is even more encouraged now than ever.
“To our candidates in Katilye and Chitimukulu, don’t despair, that’s the nature of elections; you win some and you lose some. Because of you, we are stronger!” said Kalaba.
“Congratulations to all parties that participated but more so, to those that have carried the day. We remain a nation that must be united despite our political differences!”
