GOVERNMENT has announced the return of Chief Justice, Justice Mumba Malila, into the country following successful medical treatment in South Africa.
Dr Malila had been evacuated there after a road traffic accident in late August.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Information and Media, Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana, the Chief Justice is now recovering at home and is in good spirits.
The government expressed its gratitude to the medical teams in both Zambia and South Africa for their exceptional care.
“Government wishes to inform the nation that the Chief Justice has made substantial progress in his recovery and has now returned home to Zambia, where he continues to recuperate,” Kawana said
“His health is steadily improving, and he is in high spirits as he undergoes his recovery process.”
The accident that caused Dr Malila’s hospitalisation occurred on August 30 and the Chief Justice was initially treated at the University Teaching Hospital and Maina Soko Military Hospital before being transferred to South Africa following an evaluation by local medical experts who determined he needed specialised treatment.
