PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has conveyed his condolences on behalf of the people of Zambia to Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera and citizens on the death of that country’s Vice President Saulos Chilima and other nine senior officials.
President Hichilema revealed that Zambia has dispatched officers and air transport to help with the situation following the tragic incident.
The plane carrying Chilima and nine others disappeared from the country’s airport radars yesterday and was found this morning in Chikangawa forest completely destroyed with no survivors.
President Hichilema said Zambia and Malawi are one people therefore the country has joined in the mourning of Malawi’s loss.
“As a country, we have since dispatched some of our officers and air transport to help with the situation on the ground. We are one people,” President Hichilema wrote.
“May God give strength, unity and love to our brothers and sisters in Malawi. Yehovah ankale namwe (Jehovah be with you).”
