Magistrate Trevor Kasanda admitted her to bail upon considering that she is not a flight risk as she is a parliamentarian of fixed abode.

He granted her bail in the sum of K150, 000 in her own recognizance on a condition that she surrenders her passport and provides two working sureties who have been bound on similar conditions.

Mabonga is charged with two counts of seditious practices for allegedly inciting a civil unrest.

Between May 25 and May 28, 2024 allegedly incited Easterners to rise in arms against Southerners when she ascribed the disappearance of Petauke Crntral member of parliament Emmanuel Jay Banda to an ethnic attack on Easterners.

She said the Easterners together with their tribal cousins the Bembas were in multitudes and could for a ‘tribal pact’ which could outnumber the police.

Trial commences on July 3, 2024.
