The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Luapula Province has successfully intercepted a Tanzanian bus trafficking illegal substances.
The bus, with registration number CGO 55034K05, from Tanzania to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was stopped at Ntoposhi Toll Gate in Mansa District.
During a routine inspection, DEC officers discovered 4.48 kilograms of fresh Khat Miraa concealed in bundles sealed in a box.
This operation led to the arrest of two Tanzanian nationals: Nindi Juma Salum, a 47-year-old bus conductor, and Ibrahim Mudihiri Burbani, a 44-year-old driver.
Khat Miraa is a stimulant plant classified as an illegal substance in many countries due to its psychoactive properties.
Both suspects are currently in lawful custody and are awaiting court appearances.
