PATRIOTS for Economic Progress (PEP) leader Sean Tembo has maintained that President Hakainde Hichilema’s special assistant for politics Levy Ngoma and two others were involved in the abduction of Petauke Central member of parliament Emmanuel Jay Banda who went missing for two days.
Tembo therefore believes that Ngoma is not entitled to K5 million for defamation.
He stated that the statement he issued on June 2 is neither false nor defamatory as he is sure that Banda fingered the trio as his abductors having stated that in the presence of the victim’s lawyer Sakwiba Sikota.
The PeP leader said as far as he was concerned he never defamed Ngoma.
Tembo called on police to immediately arrest the alleged abductors and subject them to an identification parade so that the abduction victim; Emmanuel Jay Banda can formally identify them.
“We look forward to meeting Mr. Levy Ngoma and his lawyers in court, where we shall vigorously challenge their frivolous claim.
“Lastly, we wish to state that, should the Zambia Police follow through with Mr. Levy Ngoma’s frivolous complaint for criminal defamation against us, as they have done in previous cases involving opposition leaders, we stand ready to be arrested. Let the Zambian people be the judge,” said Tembo.
