SIX casual workers in Ndola, have been arrested in connection with the death of their manager, Clifford Mubanga.
Mubanga was on Sunday discovered lifeless in a pool of his own blood, just a few meters away from the lodge he was managing called Luwi’s Lodge which was still under construction and owned by his uncle, Willson Lukwesa.
According to reports, since last week, the six of the casual workers at the lodge were pressuring him, demanding that he pay them their wages.
Mubanga took them to his uncle’s place on Sunday so that the owner of the lodge could settle them.
After they were given a down payment of the salary arrears they left Lukwesa’s house but went complaining bitterly about the amounts they were given.
The following morning, Lukwesa received a call informing him that his nephew had been found dead and wet in his blood along the road, just 100 meters away from his lodge.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba confirmed both the arrest and death of the deceased.
It is alleged that the six employees who threatened him had attacked him along the way.
“The six suspects were arrested by police while the body of the deceased has since been picked and deposited at Ndola Teaching Hospital awaiting postmortem and burial,” said Mweemba.
