Police give free accommodation to young criminal mastermind as Youth Day gift

POLICE in Lusaka have extended their hearts to a youth, donating free sleeping space for notorious Chawama based gang leader Zakado who spent his Youth Day celebration eve crossover behind bars.

The Zambian police service has had no complaints of having their hands full in the recent days, generously opening their police cells to unlawful deserving members of the community.

Deputy police spokesperson Danny Mwale disclosed that Bernard Mulenga also known as Zakado, a leader of a criminal gang that is ‘registered’ on social media platforms was yesterday arrested after a tip off from members of the public.

“He was spotted in Lusaka’s Chawama compound by concerned members of the public around 12:00 hours and we immediately launched a manhunt and around 15:00 hours Bernard was cornered in Chawama’s Chimwemwe area, said Mwale

Mwale revealed that the notorious gang leader was on police wanted list for various crimes including Aggravated Robberies in Chawama Compound and surrounding areas.

“Zakado also left an infamous record in Katondo street in Lusaka’s Central Business District,” added Mwale.

Zakado, is sitting in his new temporal police cell residence awaiting to be jointly charged with his two accomplices known as Andrew Mweetwa nicknamed Seven and Philip Chipangoma alias INTERCITY.

“The two were arrested on December 21, 2023 and January 22, 2024 respectively.

They are currently remanded in Correctional Facility.” he said.

Mwale stated that the Police service has launched a manhunt for the gang members who are still at large.
