Police gun down two criminals


TWO infamous criminals from the notorious Chibolya compound have met their maker in a dramatic and unexpected showdown with Chibolya Police officers.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the two suspects identified as Vesta and Albert have been on the wanted list for aggravated robberies in the disreputable junkie infested area of Chibolya compound for a long time.

The chaotic escapade began when the Chibolya ill-famed crew, armed with machetes, fueled by who- knows- what concotion of liquid courage, attempted a daring heist in the residential area.

Concerned members of the public spotted the duo, wanted for numerous aggravated robberies in the compound, hiding and alerted the police.

Hamoonga disclosed that upon receiving the information, police officers swiftly responded to the location.

“As the the officers approached the two criminals, armed with four machetes, they attempted to flee. With the assistance of the public, the police managed to apprehend the criminals, ” Hamoonga explained.

“However, during the process of taking them into the lawful custody , the suspects managed to escape. Police, in an attempt to stop their escape, fired shots, resulting in the fatal shooting of the two criminals identified as Vesta and Albert. “

The matter of Aggravated robbery was reported to the police by Francis Chuya, 35, residing in an unmarked house number in Chibolya compound.

Chuya reported that he was viciously attacked by a group of eight criminals, some armed with machetes, resulting in the theft of his property valued at K6, 700.

The incident occured around 10:30 hours.

“According to the complainant, while he was walking home in the morning, he encountered the assailants who, without provocation, attacked him with a machete, causing a deep cut on his head. The criminals then proceeded to rob him of cash amounting to K5000 and an itel P38 phone valued at K1,700,” stated Hamoonga.

Hamoonga revealed that the scene was visited and investigations into the aggravated robbery were launched.

The Zambia Police Service has since urged the public to remain vigilant and report any information related to criminal matters.
