Lusaka driver harrases female student with firearm

A LUSAKA driver employed under Rocks Student Apartment in Silverest has been put on “park” by police as he will be languishing behind bars for harrasing a female student with a gun.

Tuesday February 20, became memorable day for Margret Banda, a 26-year-old student – not for happy moment but a nightmare that came to life after she encountered the harshness of Million Banda (46).

One could wonder what caused Banda to fume, leaving a young woman shaken and him facing serious charges.

According to Margaret the misunderstanding began when she simply sought to retrieve a gate key from the apartment’s driver to meet up her friend who was waiting outside.

Instead of a routine interaction, the student was allegedly met with a torrent of verbal abuse that quickly escalated into physical assault.

The horror peaked like 5G in a good area, when Banda reportedly brandished an unknown firearm, directly threatening Margaret’s life.

In the face of such terror, Margaret bravely pleaded for her safety, eventually convincing Banda to lower the weapon.

Undeterred, she went and reported the incident to the Chelston Police Station, leading to Banda’s arrest.

Police spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga confirmed the arrest.

Hamoonga said a Star Fire pistol, along with ammunition, was recovered from the driver’s residence, solidifying the seriousness of the accusations.

“During the arrest, a firearm identified as a Star Fire, Serial number DK 744912, Calibre 9mm, silver in color, along with 6 rounds of ammunition, was seized from Mr. Banda’s residence,” added Hamoonga.

Banda currently remains in police custody, facing charges that could carry significant penalties.

Meanwhile, the Zambia Police Service urged the public to remain vigilant and report any instances of violence promptly.
