POLICE in Lusaka have separated a self-appointed pentecostal prophet from his colourful and pointy shoes, belt and freedom after his mission to reconstruct the biblical story of Jesus feeding a multitude of people with five loaves of bread and two fish went terribly wrong.
On Wednesday, Abraham Lloyd Mulenga, known to his flock at Angelic Ministry Church as Prophet Abraham Angel Israel, gathered 100 hungry youths to clean the Cholera-infested streets of Lusaka.
While on the mission for civic virtue, “the Shepherd and his flock took a detour into Shoprite, where there, he attempted to treat his troops to a post-service feast.
Unfortunately, it seemed the ‘Angelic Vessel’ ran out of ‘miracle money’ as the cleaning exercise also wiped his pocket clean, failing to clear the bill.
This “divine intervention” at the checkout counter alerted authorities, and the pastor’s good intentions were promptly detained by police and he was taken to Central Police.
While awaiting charges for “conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace,” news emerged of another legal entanglement for Prophet Angel.
Apparently, his celestial aura failed to charm investigators in Chawama, where he faces accusations of “obtaining money by false pretenses.”
According to some sources he was allegedly in the business of conning people of their hard earned money.
The Zambia Police Service spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed the arrest and assured the public that justice, not divine intervention, will determine the pastor’s fate.
