Sakwiba leads opposition alliance as they move to register movement

Zambia’s opposition parties, uniting for a national movement have appointed Sakwiba Sikota as interim chairperson and Chishala Kateka as coordinator.

This follows last weeks’ press briefing which announced the birth of a movement they called people’s movement.

According to a statement issued by Jackson Silavwe and Saboi Imboela, the opposition leaders’ initial task is to finalize the group’s name and seek registration with the Registrar of Societies.

Once registered, more parties are expected to join, and permanent leaders will be selected.

Notable members include Citizens First Leader Harry Kalaba, FDD’s Edith Nawakwi, Golden Party’s Jackson Silavwe, Saboi Imboela (NDC), and former Zambian president Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
