THE echoes of sorrow blended with the the wind amplifying the cries of a Sinazongwe family that lost their teenage son to suicide after he was overwhelmed by the responsibility of impregnating two girls.
Simon Chali, a 19-year-old hailing from Maamba found himself intertwined in a web of his consequences as five minutes of pleasure bore literal fruits, he scored a brace – not in one goal post but two!
According to sources Chali had led a carefree life, embracing the temptation of his youth as a charismatic playboy.
However, the consequences of his actions came to a climax when he discovered that two young women he had been involved with were both carrying his unborn seeds.
Unable to face the looming responsibilities and the gravity of his actions, Simon made a fateful decision and left his home in the yesterday morning and didn’t return.
He was only found around 17:00 hours by members of the public near Top club area were he was hanging on a tree.
It is alleged that the teenager also consumed unidentified poison substance before taking to the rope.
As the news rippled through the community, Simon Chali Snr, the grieving father, rushed to Maamba police station to report the heart-wrenching incident.
The Southern Province deputy Police commanding officer, Moono Namalongo, confirmed the somber details to Kalemba, recounting the grim discovery.
“Acting on the report, Police (officers) rushed to the scene of Incident and found the body hanging on a tree with a rope about four meters from the ground and white foam with bad odor was coming out from his mouth,” Namalongo said.
Namalongo added that the body of the deceased was later deposited to Maamba Hospital Mortuary and currently awaiting burial as police suspect no foul play.
No matter the situation you are going through their is always a way out, suicide is not the answer, talk to someone.
