Government honours volunteers for selfless contribution to development

Government in Chifunabuli district, Luapula Province, celebrated International Volunteers Day, honoring over 1000 volunteers for their selfless contributions to Zambia’s socio-economic development.

Speaking yesterday in Chifunabuli district in Luapula Province, Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Doreen Mwamba elaborated Government’s commitment to supporting volunteers in various sectors.

Mwamba said in a speech read on her behalf by Permanent Secretary, Angela Kawandami.

The event, themed “If Everyone Did, Volunteering for a Better Zambia,” saw some volunteers receive outstanding certificates.

UNDP representative James Wakiaga praised volunteers for their sacrifices, emphasizing their role in immediate response and collaboration during challenging times.

Director Patricia Muyamwa urged volunteers to stay committed to enhancing community well-being, while a volunteer, Anne Mwape expressed gratitude for government and stakeholders’ acknowledgment of their vital contributions.
