Hichilema leads Zambia’s green diplomacy charge to COP28 in Dubai

President Hakainde Hichilema is set to lead the nation’s charge against climate change as he departs for Dubai today.

According to Foreign Affairs and International Relations minter Stanely Kakubo, the Head of State is heading to Dubai at the Invitation of the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Kakubo said President Hichilema will address the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) High-Level Segment for Heads of State and Government during the 28th Conference of Parties (COP28).

Themed “Racing for a Better World,” the summit will see President Hichilema engaging in vital discussions on energy, agriculture, trade, technology transfer, infrastructure, and tourism.

President Hichilema will also engage in strategic bilateral engagements that align with Zambia’s commitment to combat the adverse impacts of climate change on food, water, and energy security.

Returning on 3rd December 2023, the President aims to position Zambia as a global advocate for environmental sustainability and a pioneer in the green economy.
