IN a momentous event for Proflight Zambia, their latest freighter jet, the Bombardier CRJ100 Parcel Freighter, gracefully touched down at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) earlier this week.
This arrival signifies a major milestone in the airline’s ongoing mission to fortify its cargo transport capabilities and expand its fleet.
The addition of this new freighter jet is poised to significantly augment the airline’s capacity, enabling them to meet the surging demand for efficient cargo services within Zambia and across borders.
In a statement, Proflight Zambia also revealed gearing up to welcome another addition to its fleet, the Bombardier CRJ200 passenger jet, which is anticipated to arrive before mid-September, courtesy of MOVE, a ferry company that has played a pivotal role in Proflight Zambia’s recent acquisitions.
Captain Josias Walubita, Director of Flight Operations at Proflight Zambia, conveyed his excitement about this development, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome these new aircraft to our fleet. The CRJ100 Parcel Freighter is a valuable addition, especially in the current market environment. It will allow us to provide even more reliable and efficient cargo transportation services.”
He further noted, “The Bombardier CRJ jets have proven to be excellent aircraft for us. We have a highly skilled team, including pilots, engineers, and crew, ready to operate this jet fleet profitably and efficiently in both domestic and international markets.”
The journey of the first aircraft, a CRJ100 Parcel Freighter, commenced in Calgary on September 1, 2023, at 16:00 local time. It embarked on an impressive route, flying from Calgary to Goose Bay on the East Coast of Canada, across the North Atlantic to Keflavik, Iceland, then proceeding to Ljubljana, Slovenia.
On Saturday, at 18:05, the aircraft took off for Jedda, Saudi Arabia, and Nairobi, Kenya, before finally gracing Lusaka, Zambia, with its arrival at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
While currently registered as C-GXHQ in Canada, the CRJ Freighter MSN7128 will soon undergo the necessary de-registration and registration processes in Zambia to be locally recognized as 9J-PZC.
