A MAN of Lusaka’s Mtendere Compound was found dead hours after murdering his pregnant wife who was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances this morning.

According to reports, Demiano Phiri aged 40 took his five-year old child to his landlord’s house in Mtendere East yesterday saying his wife, Phelida Banda would pick the toddler later.
However, worry overtook the 71 year old landlady when night came but her tenants were nowhere in sight to fetch their child.
By morning today, Phelida aged was discovered dead in her house by her sister who went to pick something around 06:30 hours.
Police were quickly alerted of the death and when officers inspected the Phelida’s body, they observed she had sustained a swollen face with blood stains and she also seemed to pregnant.
Zambia Police Service spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said Phelida’s body of the deceased had since been deposited in the University Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death while her run-away husband was being looked for to provide answers on the death or his wife.
Hours later police confirmed of finding Phiri dead.
Apparently he took his life after murdering his wife. His body has joined that of his late wife in the UTH mortuary!
