Brimming with enthusiasm, Jefta, 25, couldn’t contain his excitement and exclaimed, “It has made me feel great and has pumped my acting morale at another level.”

This is Jefta’s first-ever international nomination, and he is calling on his beloved country to rally behind him and bring home the Best Rising Star Award.

He understands the value of this recognition, mentioning that winning the award would enhance his professional profile and provide opportunities to connect with international producers.

In an interview with #Kalemba, Jefta shared the story of how he discovered his passion for acting.

Born in 1998, Jefta is a vibrant and versatile youth, actor, police officer and philanthropist whose journey into few started during his school days when he actively participated in various drama activities from primary to secondary school.

Jefta later came in contact with Frank Sibbuku, the creator of the popular television series “Mpali,” during a teens show at Muvi TV.

Although it took time, he eventually had the opportunity to work under Sibbuku’s guidance, beginning with the production “Wheelo Sparner” in 2017.

However, his breakthrough came in 2018 when he was cast as Cephas Nguzu in “Mpali,” an experience he describes as a true blessing that extended beyond acting.

Through his role in “Mpali,” Jefta has not only honed his acting skills but also gained invaluable networking opportunities and insights into the filmmaking process.

In fact, from 2019 to 2020, he even served as a production assistant for the show, acquiring firsthand experience behind the scenes.

Looking toward the future, Jefta Phiri has ambitious aspirations to establish his own media house, where he can produce content that educates and enlightens the masses.

Furthermore, he emphasized his commitment to making a difference by allocating 30 percent of the income generated from his productions to charitable causes as his dream materialises.
