FORMER Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) commissioner general Kingsley Chanda has been released on police bond.
Dr Chanda, 53, was released alongside his counterpart, Callistus Kaoma, 53, a former ZRA director of administration.
Zambia Police Service spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said in a statement to #Kalemba that the duo was jointly charged and arrested for 22 counts of abuse of authority of office.
“Brief facts of the matter are that the duo acted together and wilfully failed to comply with any law or applicable procedure or guidelines and abused their authority of office in relation to the disposal of 22 used Zambia Revenue (Authority) motor vehicles,” Hamoonga stated.
“This occurred between January, 2017 and December 2020.”
Hamoonga confirmed the release of the two and stated that they will appear in court soon.
