A FIGHT between a drunken couple of Mpika in Muchinga province has ended in the death of the husband aged 39 and the arrest of the woman who is only 29 years old.
The couple of Chipembele Village had been out drinking at a popular local tarven last weekend night but when they got home around 19:00 hours, Dizzy Zulu somehow remembered that her husband Mathews Ndlovu had not been a caring spouse.
A quarrel erupted between the two but soon the confrontation degenerated into a physical fight and using a metallic stool, Dizzy hit her husband’s head inflicting on him an injury that eventually sent him into permanent slumber.
But before his death, Ndlovu was taken to Michael Chilufya Sata Hospital where doctors tried in vein to save his life, he died in the early hours of Tuesday.
After his death, Dizzy, whose own anger and hands had turned her into a widow was arrested by police and remains in custody awaiting state approval for a lengthy stay in jail on charges of nan slaughter.
Muchinga Province Police commanding officer Kaunda Mubanga confirmed the death and arrest.
