Chalala thieves steal K200,000 from vehicle

A WOMAN of Lusaka’s Chalala area was left in misery and anguish after discovering that the K200,000 she kept in her vehicle disappeared like Arsenal’s hope of lifting the English Premier League title this season.

It is reported that the victim only identified as Mambo withdrew the cash from Kabulonga FNB branch on Tuesday and stashed it under the passenger’s seat of her Toyota Regius in a brown envelope.

According to police sources, Mambo collected the money in Kabulonga, went to her home in Chalala and parked outside her gate, leaving the vehicle on its own for some time.

But when she returned to her car, her heart leaped as she realised that the doors to her car was busted by criminals.

Mambo’s mind went straight for the money she kept under the vehicle but lo and behold, an open space greeted her eyes, as she found the money was gone.

Zambia Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale has confirmed the theft to Kalemba.

“Police were alerted and visited the crime scene where it was found that the suspects gained access by forcing the passenger door to open and stole from therein the reported amount,” Mwale said.

Mwale added that investigations are ongoing.
