CITIZENS First (CF) president Harry Kalaba says his party is concerned about the failure of the UPND government to resolve issues surrounding the mines – Mopani and Konkola Copper Mines (KCM).
Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Kalaba said an assurance was made that strategic partners for the mines would be found before the end of the first quarter of this year.
“But clearly we are almost half way through the second half of the year. [And] what we have heard are promises and scandals that seem to point in the direction of government’s lack of a solution to address the challenge of the two mining houses,” Kalaba said.
Kalaba said the people of the Copperbelt were heavily dependent on the two mines.
He added that any disruption in the operations of the two mines had a significant impact on the welfare of the citizens on the Copperbelt.
Meanwhile, Kalaba expressed happiness over ZCCM-IH’s trade suspension by the London Stock Exchange.
“We are also happy that the decision by the London Stock Exchange to suspend the trading of ZCCM-IH on that burse, it has also vindicated us and we can only pray that other well-meaning Zambians will begin to see the UPND government for what it is.”
“Today, it is an open secret the ZCCM-IH board chairperson resigned her position and from what we have gathered the reason for her resignation is political interference in the running of that strategic national investment vehicle and that culminated in ZCCM-IH being suspended on the London Stock Exchange,” said Kalaba

You actually make it seem really easy together with your presentation but I in finding this topic to be actually something that I believe I’d never understand. It kind of feels too complicated and very broad for me. I’m taking a look forward in your next submit, I¦ll try to get the hang of it!
