THE CURRENT search going on at the residence of former president Edgar Lungu is normal, the government has said.
Calling in on the Hot FM breakfast Show this morning, Ministry of Information and Media director and spokesperson, Thabo Kawana Police officers were within their mandate.
Kawana said that there should be no cause for alarm as what the police are doing is within their mandate.
Kawana said once the police are done with the operation an official statement will be issued.
“what the police are doing is within their mandate if there is an issue to be followed up. There is no way that the police can go without legal documentation.” Kawana said
“I Just want to assure the nation that whatever the police are doing within the law and their mandate. Let us all be calm. There will be an official police police statement in regards to their operation.”
And National Restoration Party (NAREP) secretary general Ezra Ngulube also joined the programme as a caller stating that Government has taken too long to move in on those that squandered the nation’s resources.
Ngulube called on government to table the motion of removing Lungu s immunity.
“Once he (Lungu) is found wanting he should be prosecuted,” said Ngulube.
