FOLLOWING repeated directives by President Hakainde Hichilema that no pupil should sit on the floor in classroom, Bweengwa constituency in Monze district, Southern Province, has contracted Palm Man Farm and Signature Investments to supply a total of 1, 003 desks using Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation for 2022.
Monze district has three constituencies, namely Monze Central, Moomba and Bweengwa.
At the recently held full council meeting, it was reported that 323 desks, out of the earmarked 1,003, have already been delivered in Bweengwa constituency.
Before the UPND got into office in August 2021, CDF was K1.6 million per constituency.
But in October 2021, when Minister of Finance and National Planning Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane presented the UPND government’s first national budget for 2022, he announced that CDF per constituency had been increased to K25.7 million
For this year, the government increased CDF to K28.3 million per constituency.
With 116 districts, Zambia has 156 constituencies.
