FORMER health minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya and his four-year old daughter have sustained injuries after surviving a road traffic accident near Misisi Footbridge along Kafue Road.
Police sources have told Kalemba that Dr Chilufya is still admitted at the University Teaching Hospital with his daughter after sustaining a fractured leg from the ordeal.
According to Zambia Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale the accident occurred last night, Thursday around 19:00 hours when a 34-year-old Benz Truck driver identified as Michael Chimunjeche cut in front of Dr Chilufya’s Nissan Patrol vehicle.
Mwale said Dr Chilufya was driving towards the Central Business District while the Benz Truck was joining Kafue road from Misisi Shoprite area.
“Dr. Chilufya’s vehicle had its front part extensively damaged while the Benz Truck had its left rear rim and lights damaged,” Mwale said.
“Micheal Chimunjeche survived the incident without any injuries while Dr. Chilufya and the daughter were rushed to the University Teaching Hospitals for medical attention”
Mwale said an inquiry file into the matter has been opened.
