A two-days old female baby has miraculously survived a night in the unfriendly and snake-infested bushes of Kafue’s Shikoswe area.
It has been reported that the baby’s cry from the bush was first heard on the night of Tuesday but nearby residents ignored the sounds, believing it was the sound of a bush cat.
But when the sounds persisted to the afternoon of yesterday, a concerned Kafue woman went to the mountainous bushes around 13:30 hours to investigate the matter.
On reaching the scene of the sounds, the woman discovered a wailing little bundle of joy drenched in tears and wrapped in a plastic and chitenge material upon which she immediately rushed it to Kafue General Hospital for medical attention and later reported the matter to police.
Medics at the health facility declared the bay stable, despite spending night hours in the wet weather. Zambia Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale has confirmed the incident, saying police are working to find the mother of the baby.
