A YOUNG albino boy of Mkushi has been left traumatised and reeling in pain after a superstitious trio chopped off his finger for ritualistic purposes.
The criminal trio has since gone on the run taking with them a forefinger of the albino boy while their 10-year old victim is admitted to Mkushi District Hospital.
According police, the boy fell prey to the three men after his parents left him home in the company of fellow minors while they attended a church service on Saturday morning.
The boy’s father Patrick Mwape told police that his church service was abruptly cut short by a phone call informing him that his son’s finger had been chopped for.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said after being interviewed, the boy said a man identified only as Kendrick in the company of two other men came to his home and asked him to come close to them and immediately he did, the other two held him and cut off his fore finger using a big sharp scissors and knife.
“We are appealing to the general public that may have information that may lead to the apprehension or successful prosecution of the suspects to report to Mkushi police station or any nearest police station,” Hamoonga appealed in statement on the matter.
Once caught, the trio will be charged of causing Grievous Bodily Harm.
