POLICE in Mufulira district on the Copperbelt have arrested and detained two men who chose to celebrate Easter by stealing Zesco cables.

The world’s faithful Christians are theatrically reconstructing the scenes of Jesus’ reported betrayal, arrest, crucifixion, death and resurrection.

Not to be left out, Kombe Isaac Mwalesa and Julius Kafula joined in and casted themselves as real life robbers, said to have been nailed on crosses besides Jesus.

However, for Kafula and Mwalesa, their unscripted Easter role as thieves has landed them in real trouble after being caught red-handed digging Zesco cables.

Their story may not have the expected happy ending as they are currently detained in police cells awaiting court appearance and a possible jail stint of about 25 years.

Zesco Spokesperson Henry Kapata has confirmed the arrest of the duo in a statement on the company’s Facebook page.
