“Resourceful Kabwe teachers start recruiting soldiers”
POLICE in Central Province have arrested three “resourceful” female teachers of Chindwin B Primary School in Kabwe for appointing themselves “Military Recruitment Committee” members.
With the help of Zambia Army Staff Sergeant Zimba, the ‘enterprising’ chalk breakers threw away their boxes of Brebner white-coloured chalks, discarded their weave, lost their smiles and embarked on employing school leavers into the Zambia Army.
The school leavers who were last month gathered by the teachers at a Lodge in Kapiri were made to pay between K5,000 and K10,000 depending on the rank one wanted to enter at.
Those who wanted to be Lance Corporals where charged K5000 whilst those who love ranks on top of their shoulders were made to choose between Colonel and Brigadier General which costs K10,000 and K15,000 respectively.
The “recruits” had even shaved their hair in readiness for the rigorous military training.
However, after about 120 “sugos” paid for a rare chance to be whipped, slapped and made to roll in mud at Zambia Army Training Schools, the teachers with their soldier accomplice have now been nabbed by police and charged with the offence of obtaining money by false pretences.
Confirming the incident to #Kalemba, Central Province Commissioner of Police Chola Katanga said the three teachers, two of whom are married to Zambia Army soldiers are all residents of Chindwin Barracks in Kabwe.
Commissioner Katanga revealed that Brenda Sakala, 37 and Chama Transter aged 33 are spouses of serving soldiers although police investigations revealed that their husbands had no involvement in their “recruitment exercise”.
Charity Kenenga age 30 is the third teacher.
Their Army accomplice Staff Sgt Zimba was arrested last Friday before his accomplices were also nabbed. They are now on police bond and will appear in court soon.
Commissioner Katanga cautioned desperate job seekers to follow the correct procedure in finding employment while warning criminals that the law would eventually catch up with them.
